Kud, a place of extraordinary scenic beauty is situated 103 Kms away from Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. This popular resort is situated on the Jammu-Srinagar highway at an altitude of 1738 metres. A wide range of trekking options is available in Kud. There are excellent camping sites in the adjoining areas in the wilderness. The tourism Department has Trekking equipment Hire shop. These Shops stock local and imported trekking gear. Equipments are available against a security deposit. If you are a foreign national then your passport will be kept as a deposit. Some travel agencies also organise trekking around this area.

Regular transport is available from Jammu. Buses are available from General Bus stand Jammu. JKTDC also makes available chartered luxury coaches and buses. Taxis can also be hired from scores of Tour/Travel operators from across the city of Jammu , Jammu and Kashmir, India. Similar services towards Kud are available from Railway Station. Fares are pre determined by the Govt. and are subject to change.

Heavy woolens are required in winters while light/medium clothing is required in summers. It is a very well developed hill station in Udhampur District. It also experiences heavy rainfall in the rainy season.

Only 12 km further on, and connected to Patnitop and Kud by a number of footpaths, this hill resort at 1,560 m was the overnight stop between Jammu and Srinagar before the Banihal Tunnel was opened. As in Kud, there is a spring close to the town of Batote, known as Amrit Chashma. This spring is about 2.5 km away from Batote. There is a Tourist Bungalow, tourist huts and several private hotels in Batote

Sanasar (2079 m), a satellite resort of Patnitop, with a cup-shaped meadow surrounded by gigantic conifers. A place for a quiet holiday, the meadow has now been developed as a golf course.There are several walks in the surrounding hills. The resort itself is ideal for paragliding. Tourists with own vehicle can go on to Sansar from Patnitop and return by the evening.
Sudh Mahadev is situated about 8 km to the east of Kud or Patnitop. There is a Shiva Temple at Sudh Mahadev which is visited by a large number of pil­grims on Asadh Purnima (full noon in July-August). About 5 km from Sudh Mahadev is Man Talai, where some archaeological discoveries have been made.
